terjebak dahhhhhh

kekawan aku kata buang tebiat ...tak pernah2 dibuat aku dari azali ...tetiba dua bulan nie aku terjebak .....mambaca novel melayu hahahaha ....aku siap set aside my Patricia Cornwell's novels ...satu beli kat Singapore, satu beli kat KL last July ...cuma satu yang dah baca ...satu belum lagi ....then a host of paperbacks from my fav authors pun tak disentuh lagi ......ada two books by Kellerman rasa nya in the pile of books yang belum dibaca ...aku sekarang busy sesangat ...and aktiviti membaca dah kurang, yang ada tu pulak aku gi baca novel melayu (ewwwwwwww kata adik aku!) coz that is so not me ...

like I said, aku dah terjebak ke alam novel melayu ...all because of drama yang AA belakon ok .....sebab drama Adam dan Hawa tu panjang sangat (80 episod) aku cari le buku so that aku tahu ending cepat! SEkali gi kedai buku takde stock pulak last month ...yang aku jumpa is buku lain .... jeng jeng jeng

my first ever Malay novel ....itu pun sebab Drama Nora Elena was based (very loosely!) on this book ....jalan cerita similar, but too many differences between the book and the drama ...I read the book in 3 days jer ....pastu terus ulang tengok drama ...banyak lah beza ....the book lagi fun, but the drama tu a feast to the eye sebab ada AA hehehehe .....

then baru dapat buku Adam dan Hawa ...all the way from KL ...diterbangkan khas by Cik Tijot hehehe hanya kerana aku dok cerita how hard it was to get it here ...that book, aku khatam in 2 days jer :-) tapi so far, cerita Adam dan Hawa nie macam dalam buku lah ..the dialog, scenes semua ...tak lari jauh macam cerita Nora Elena tu ...

book shelf aku yang dah penuh

pas nie tak tau le buku apa pulak aku nak cari ....so far memang takde ati lah nak cari novel macm nie lagi..bukan ada masa pun nak baca .... tapi kang ada pulak AA belakon drama yang diadaptasi dari novel, meroyan lagi aku carik buku tu pulak .....

tapi dalam meroyan tu, tak lupa gak, my dearest friend from Kuantan tu dah antar a few buku2 for me untuk santapan rohani .....thank you Liz - nanti le aku bawak buku2 gi bersama2 aku gi negara Hobbits :-)

last but not least, nak wish Selamat Hari Raya to all ...yang gi balik kampung tu, berhati2 di jalan raya ....

Free McD story and me being patriotic tetiba!

I am waiting for Aariz to have his next feeding, too tired to continue the office work, Duan is away at the reban...he was there the whole of last week, came back on the weekend , then there again since yesterday and will come back tomorrow...i hope!! Thought want to do some reading..i am now on A Doctor in the House...not Doctor House...but i love watching Dr House. Ive dropped Eat Pray Love for now--the story is too slow lah...lelah baca nya

A Doctor in the House (ADTH) -- i am already at Chapter 6 or 7..they are short chapters... up to now , to certain extend it is like reading history..i love history, but only got to learn history until form 3..for form 4 we got to elect either History or Add Maths...i adore maths better!

Back to ADTH..once there was Malay Archipelago...which is now divided politically, there are 3 main branches :Indonesian, Filipinos-Jose Rizal is a malay! and Malay of Peninsular, Borneo + Brunei. I once have a friend told me that malay are technically indonesian, but i politely rejected his assumption and told him about rumpun melayu... anyway, it also mentioned that the malay are cultured people, always courteous and formal --with adat and all lah ni..and rebellions and revolution hardly featured in malay history...true kan, habis kuat pun kisah Jebat derhaka which we choose to worship these days!

With that level of "rebelless" character, malay in this peninsular is said to be even more relaxed and easygoing, not into physical work which in contrast with other ethnic of malay which naturally hardworking and intensely competitive...adoiii....tapi baca baca baca we can take pride of our generousity and accomodating..i feel Islam mould us to be in such a way and today we come out to be the most developed Malay while maitaining our identity... interesting huh!

I will try to update interesting facts here as i continue reading the book...plesae note ADTH is memoir of Tun bukan Hikayat "Tak Melayu hilang di Dunia" he..he.....that is only selingan which i feel like sharing here!

Actually my earlier intention was to post our last saturday outing to McD TC for the free breakfast and that outing marked as Aariz's first day-out...he sleeps all the way!

Beratur punya lah panjang 45 minutes solid! Ada jugak kisah... , this one guy queuing in front of me..eksen eksen cite usually tak ramai macam tu...

kite pun cakap ada free breakfast coupon...

dia kata ohh patutlah selalu saya kat sini tak de pun orang ramai macam ni...then dia start kutuk kutuk mc d...lepas ni mc d bankruptlah...apa punya strategy lah..bla bla..

aku dah malas nak pandang org tu dah...

aku cakap ..their margin could be big or they have made a lot of it and it's time to give back to teh people and definitely takat sampai rugi with the quantity...

degil tu dia kata tak de mesti rugi...geramnya aku...malas nak layan , aku buat dek ajer...

(kindly ignore the tougue)

sekali about 20 minutes lepas tu, dia pusing lagi tanya pulak " ada coupon lebih tak "...

so happened mmg tak de ,so dgn senang hati aku jawap tak de...

sekali akak queue depan dia tu a good samaritan, bagi lah pulak kat dia...happy sangat tu...initially tu dia sakit hati tengok org ramai and he got to queue lama...apa lah punya orang!

Pastu ada pulak sedara dia ke datang nak potong queue, suh beli 2 pack kot...

aku dah stand by stand by nak cakap tak boleh buat cam tu...

nasib baik dia reject kawan tu...

then dia pusing kat kite cakap, kalau satu tadi boleh jugak tolong tapi dua tak payah lah....

tuh kite cakap kat dia , tak boleh satu org satu ajer.....gitu!

macam macam......alahai mat aariz ni time aku tunggu dia tak bangun pulak....kalau kite tidur tak sejam dia dah mintak susu....COBAAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Be Careful What You Wish For

Friday ni penyakit tetap aku ialah ...malas....my report , one down..another 2 terbantut...nak sambung tapi penyakit malas melanda...cam no tu?
Thus, i decided to take a short break lah...blogging jap...

The title is my latest reading....i was actually looking for Fortress-Dan Brown...tak jumpe jumpe lagi sampai sekarang Kak Ejin...and also Eat,Pray,Love--- dah habis both pun...we only have Popular here in Kuantan...pethatic ke??? it is lah...ha..ha..ha... another bookstore is Men Men...tak kuasa akak nak masuk except to look for text books....kalau kat Popular dah sold out!

I was circling Popular...and finally decided to try Alexandra Potter...

I think the book is just ok....it's a romantic comedy.....about a 30 sth woman...having a long list of wishes about everything--love, work...life in general...One fine day , she was given a heather by a Gypsy and that heather turned out to be a magical one and with it, all your heart wishes will come true.....so first on a dream guy-a neighbour whom she admired--got him..with some A+ criteria...not only handsome lah...kemas tahap cipan, gentleman..and with 30min foreplay...tetttttttttt...

Then got her dream work...got a housemate to share her rent...clear traffic in the morning...a seat in a tube to and fro etc etc...
Even with all that...having all your heart desires...is not satisfying...the guy is just to good to be true ...30 min is way............too long tetttttttttttt.........So ada lah cite itu ini...and at the end, she ended up with the housemate yg pelik sikit lah konon nya....tapi hati gumbira....itu lah aku kata so so ajer cite nya......

Tak boleh relates and tak ade that UMPH factor in the story lah....for one, i have never had a long list lah....ada lah sikit kot tapi not as that detail....esp on a person...how can we set that we want someone who is like this and that when we ourselves pun are far from perfect kan? secondly my life starts early...it's all about family...apa lagi working towards living happily everafter..raising the boys--(talking abt the boys---my wish is for them is to become among "A FEW GOOD MEN")....
then..cherish whatever we have in hand.......so pretty simple lah.....

Hot news...my sister Cik Ann has delivered a baby girl yesterday dengan jayanya....alhamdulillah......Nazarah Afroza .....welcome little one!

Souls the Gods had forsaken

My latest reading ....a loan from my sista...simple story...story about a girl immigrant from China and her journey in life...being trashed at birth during those era when girl was less valuable compared to the other gender, sold away to a childless couple in Singapore....betrayed and became concubine-of-sort to the foster father ( for being a master of the house)...carrying the foster father's child at the age of 14...later fled from home with her baby Ching Ling on the day of birth to a "deathhouse"--- a place where dying people was stationed by family member to wait for their final day.....i wonder if there is such a place these days....horror nya.....

second part--the upbringing of her baby....and ends with story of Ching Ling..

I think the story is ok...it's quite interesting as it touches quite a bit on traditions, customs and belief. If you into that genre, try this novel...simple english....senang lagi menyenangi :)
Adios!

A Thousand Splendid Suns -Khaled Hosseini

I have just finished reading the abovementioned novel. It's about the life of two women, two separate individuals, separate life with a huge age difference, whom eventually came together sharing one roof, enemies at first and sisters at the end...Just like Kite Runner, the story runs in Afghanistan, before and during the influence of Taliban.
Again another touching story...heartbreaking.... people being very judgmental on illigetimate, denying women's rights on everything other than slaving to the other so defined as superior gender! i would say it is a total denial on existence and living in general.........crazy....very difficult to comprehend, that this happens in that side of the world.

Like a normal scenario, women in polygamy fight with each other when they should go against the husband--my personal opinion. Thank god, both the main characters Mariam and Laila came to their senses towards the end and became sisters...and finally get rid of the abusive husband...ohhhh i love the ending........Not a totally happy ending but definitely a satisfying one.
Having read 2 novels of Khaled, I still prefer Kite Runner--unlike Kite Runner, I have no tears reading this Splendid Suns but a racing heart!

On a separate note , my dear friend Soba ...just came back from her New Zealand vacation and bought me these 2 novels...Thank you so much dear...just started the Sandra Howard's...interesting...

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

My latest reading ...just finished it last week. It's a borrowed from a dear friend and my first time reading Khaled Hosseini.
The novel is about father and son relationship, friendship between 2 boys-servant and master relation~~only after the death of one, that the other party knew they are actually brothers i.e fathered by a same man...the story is set against a backdrop of a turmoil Afghanistan with the influence of Taliban....after the fall of monarchy and after Russian invasion.

It is so sickening to read about two groups of people fighting with each other when they are actually one--both are native of the same land but one is feeling they are superior from the other, feeling more Islamic in their own definition....

It's a very very sad story...i have stream of tears running down in quite a number of plots!
Bersih mata aku kena cuci :)

Guys, if you are thinking about what -lah to read, perhaps you can try this Kite Runner! I promise it wont fail you!

Am going to buy another novel of Khaled this weekend! Till then ....teraaaaaaaaaa...tetiba teringat "Cilla Black"!!!

Fogging to AJL 24th to TONY PARSONS

I feel like it has been ages since my last posting....but actually about 13 days only..having broke the momentum i am feeling like a total stranger..betul ke blog aku ni....gitu-strange pulaks ! So what has been happening for the last 2 weeks...nothing much actually ...just a normal 30 sth with kids kind of life...pergi kerja -balik kerja -family dinner-pok pek pok pek with the kids - pok pek pok pek with spouse -tidur....
sekarang ni along the way tu ade "click into facebook"...(in the spirit of fully utilising my BB).macam penting benar tengok news feed org main seligai benda...farmville lah, petville lah fishville lah....Ejin, Word Twist ada lagi tak? Lama tak main....my one and only games back then while facebooking...

Ohh ok...i think last week or so i was trapped in my own house when MPK did their routine fogging to prevent dengue. Gosh! but we have that fogging like every other day..they said there were 2-3 cases in the area so they have to do the fogging more frequent but it is way too frequent lah! I am so thankful for bibik as the floor needs cleaning everytime...cant imagine a life without one..Once again thank you Bibik...cam lah bibik baca blog kan! But i always say "trima kashih bibik"....bibik akan senyum sumbing...

So how could i get trapped? Most of the time they do fogging outside of the house but so happened on that day, my boys and bibik shot off the house leaving the door wide opened. The thing is if you open the door open, they will take that opportunity to really fog the inside.

I had just finished my bath so i chose to stay inside my room. After just a while, i noticed that the smoke was slowly filling my room thru the opening below the door...i opened the window and saw the cloud of fog was moving towards our direction...everything outside was blurring fast. Then i decided to open the room's door and was shocked to see the family room was filled with very thick smoke - I couldnt even see my red sofa that sitting right in front of my room door. At this point...i was scared actually ...scared if i got suffocated...started to imagining things...Dengan cekal hati, i walked briskly downstairs...raba sana sini coz i really couldnt see a thing...that was really a scary experience to mark the opening of 2010! Punya lah nak hidup kan????? he..he..he...tak cukup bekalan lah kak!.....even at 30sth....god bless me!

Now a short review on AJL 24th - I think it is one of the best AJL ever aired by TV3...maybe because of the songs instead of meleweh tak hingat , there are many fast numbers in this year final and all the finalist are equally talented--semua pun mantap . Frankly, i just love seeing the new breed like Aizat, Yuna, Bunkface -they are very talented -they chose and make their own music...pretty cool huh!

Abang mat over kite Faizal Tahir...was awesome -- no doubt about his vocal --tinggal as usual dressing and kelakuan tu macam over the top sikit--he's 30sth right?? so to 30sth folks jgn buat perangai gitu ok like the picture above tak sesuai lah...No NO in public ...dlm blog tak pe he..he..he..i prefer seeing him with tee and jeans not that MJ's army like signature costume..

The result is cool except for the best vocal.....which like Fend , i think should go to the miss songstress sapa lagi kalau bukan Misha Omar..she's awesome....Have to mention here also , I like Stacy, that girl is a real WOW....tenaga>>mmg tabik spring...

Penyanyi jemputan...in my 30sth eyes...Search ajer yg ok but i hate the wig..macam pinjam dari Kak Pah..Poh yeh yeh...i dont understand lah why they have to invite pop yeh yeh everytime -without fail kan???? cant stand the music, the singers , the costume erkkkk...Tak de yg lama tak kan ada yg baru --that is like a tagline everytime introducing this era--macam lah singers sekarang cucu cicit dia org.....and Jay jay,...entah nape jadi gitu...kah..kah..kah...byk lah aku punya komen kan...Overall 2 thumbs up to TV3 as the show was really awesome- I like!

For the last 2 weeks , i have succeeded with my unofficial resolution for the year i.e. to reduce my shopping--so for the past 2 weeks no new Ariani and no new shoes. Betul sungguh aku dah insaf--proud of myself...Laki akak pun mesti bangga ----but i bought a new novel from Tony Parsons-My Favourite Wife --read a good review on it sometimes ago in Sunday Times--that is how it came about. Readings tak pe lah kan...books+magazines--bahan ilmiah membuka minda...Ms Gina and Ms Zarina and Ms Mard mesti agreeable to this kan??? Thanks ...Fend jangan sebok!!!

The Lost Symbols - Dan Brown

Just finish my latest reading...bought it while waiting for our flight to Kuantan at KLIA (after our vacation in Bali recently) so it took like 2 months to finish....

Not bad huh being 30 sth with jobs and kids.???..Standing applause lah kat akak!
..we are what we chose to become...so if we plan and determine to a reading , we can...but if choose to procastinate and being lazy~~it is also an option!....but ....sad to say...i am still few chapters away from finishing my 24 Rasul....an option i made...nobody else to blame but myself...(kite try ok before year end--god helps me!)

I love Dan Brown's..this is my third novels of his after Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. They are all heart pounding kind of series...and the way he relates his stories to reality is just awesome!

So anybody who is into this genre of readings~~~get hold of this novel...it's hard to put down once you have started.....but still takes 2 months lah ..Lol

MAgazines-----The whole lot of GLAM

I am a magazine freak...during my teens,I was so into REMAJA and metropolitan...who's not right esp REMAJA....like there were so many choices during that time huh!
In my 20s and early 30s, i was so hooked with Malaysian women's weekly...I guess, at that time just starting family life...keen to be this whole woman ...collecting weekly recipes which i have never tried, the urge to learn from people's experiences.....perhaps just in case...you know....married life, people's experience, raising kids...and so on... ..Along the way, I read and switched between voque...metropolitan..wanita...and nona..

Then one day , 5 years back, I saw this magazine...GLAM...this a malay fashion magazine...which can proudly stand as tall with Vogue etc..I started from the second edition wich has tiara ...I skipped the first one , i think because the first one had kudsia on it...didnt attract me....The magazine is all about high fashion...what's in what's out...nothing's serious...i get relax flip thru the pages... and they have mak datin's corner with those hot and spicy and at times kind of sad, kind of stories about the subject title..since then i said good bye to women's weekly..maybe i am pretty comfortable with my life that i dont need to read other people's experience no more....

Then they also came out with GLAM Deko....and subsequently GLAM Lelaki..my dear partner who has been sharing my magazines ever since..one day commented to get a copy of GLAM lelaki...so I bought that first copy for him...

I am not sure with you guys, but there were times I feel lost about myself pertaining my career...not knowing where I am heading to ..is this job i am holding is really what i am looking for....am i happy with what i am doing...and when i have this mixed feeling, i love reading ths MAdam's Chair...to certain extend it inspires me...
Are you seeing it... that even our kind of reading is showing the sign of aging, right?...how can we run....???erkkkkkkkk

My current reading

From time to time, i try my best to continue my one ( and only-maybe) very beneficial hobby since childhood (dont play play ahhh) ..that is READING..i read all sort of materials from religion to history, romance, mystery, fashion ( do we really read fashion???kelentong lah ni...kah..kah..kah... and etc etc..One thing that i realised about me lah , i cant speak for others, but my kind of reading changes over time...it sort of keep up with the changes in age (bukan aging..kah..kah..kah..)..Like, I used to love romance a lot but i am no more into it...i mean my reading ok....my latest romance is Ayat Ayat Cinta- not so bad but not my cup of tea though.

Recently I finally found a book about our 25 Rasuls. I have been looking for it for ages- no kidding and i cant find it in any normal local bookstores in Msia, ...found one before but it is more like for school children as it is very thin. This new book I bought actually a real thick one which split the 24 rasuls before our Prophet Muhammad ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as they have one dedicated for our Prophet, thus the one I bought covers the 24 rasuls....very comprehensive....the story is being written with close reference to the quran and hadith..interesting...to date i have finished Adam as.
For 2009...for this reading activity...i am trying to finish my Tafsir Quran..I almost finish last year but i stopped too long that i think i have to repeat...so I have started again and now still in A'Bagarah....Any kind of reading is good as it stimulates thinking.....but i still need my monthly GLAM to inspire my other hobby...my "favourite" hobby....tut...........
