Buah Feijoa

pernah tak dengar nama buah nie??? Feijoa ...tak pernah kan??? kat UK aku rasa tak pernah nampak buah nie ....or kat Malaysia pun takde ....aku mula2 nampak buah nie kat sunday market two weeks ago ...but tak tau buah apa haha ..and how to cook it ....hahaha punya lah kan ....rupanya tak dimasak pun!!! it is  fruit ...

rupa cam jambu kan? well according to wikipedia (aku google ok!) feijoa nie also known as pineapple guava or guavasteen ....and kata nya, buah nie banyak available masa autumn ...colour hijau and berbentuk bujur telur ....like in the above photo la kan ....

This is how you eat it ...cut into half and scoop isi nya ...makan ngan biji tu sekali ....it is soft and juicy ..rasa cam manis2 with a hint of masam ...rasa cam buah jambu but ada bau yang sweet and tak nak cerita macam mana ......but according to my fren, Nita, feijos nie is an acquired taste kata nya hahaha ...for me, I love it! Nice, juicy gitu .....

so bila dah abis makan, it should look like this hahaha ...scoop out all the flesh ...and kulit nie buang lah ....

aritu aku tak beli coz tak tau nak makan camne ...aku ingat dimasak hahaha ...but last weekend kat rumah Kak Shidah, she showed me how to eat this ....i love it hahhaa so esok nak gi suday market and buy some feijoa!

Cherish with Cherries

I know it is syawal oledi tapi nak kena jugak update this one last berbuka for Ramadhan 2012.
This was the last 2-3 days of Ramadhan...my youngest adik ipar came back from Perlis, my MIL called and informed that they want to have berbuka at my teratak....so the whole lot came and we had iftar together---no picture of us sebab semua tak bertudung lah .
It was a working day, so I bought the food and some otehrs are belanja-ed by my adik ipar...emmacam pulak dibawanya...and once again melempah ruah food nya...

Yang jadi nak cite sangat this makan makan is because the pencuci mulut for the day was cherries...all the way from KL...Duan came back from KL on that day and brought home the cherries.

Rememeber fendi's new nickname ...the Saint...and this is the reason why i called him that..I told him lama tak makan cherries and he told me he have those so often because it is sold in Jusco which is nearby to his residence.dan dengan baik hati nya my the saint friend, knowing that Duan was in town...he took the effort to buy 2-3 packets and passed them to Duan....tak ke mulia hati tu...

Mana lah nak dapat kawan macam tu :).................agak agak berapa duit raya nak bagi aku :)

So makanlah kita sampai cirit the next day ha..ha..ha...mmg meletops!

crystal longan - pernah makan tak?

pernah tak tengok buah nie? or makan buah yang seakan-akan manggis nie? it is called crystal longan ...aku baru nampak last week kat kampung ...tapi tak beli coz tak tau makan cam ne ...and last monday, masa day trip to kampung, aku nampak lagi orang jual buah ni ..and I asked the couple yang jual, buah nie nama apa, makan camne semua ..and dia kata it is called crystal longan - cost about RM12 sekilo ...nak try punya pasal aku beli sekilo

and yang interesting nya kalau nak makan, kena ketuk kulit keras tu kat permukaan keras till you hear a cracking sound ...kira hantuk2 kat mana2 jer lah ...jangan gigit pakai gigi, kang tak pasal2 korang pakai gigi palsu pastu ....after cracking the think skull-like skin tu, akan nampak the isi and the biji ...like so:

and biji besau kat tengah2 ...isi nya lekang ....and lemak2 gitu ...sedap, sweet but not too sweet ...

boleh ngap terus :-)

sekilo tu kejap jer kitorang abiskan ...cuma my dad and the kids jer tak makan ....the rest tu makan cam apa lagi ....pas nie mak aku nak cari anak benih pokok nie kat Serian..org yang jual tu bagitau ada org juak pokok nie kat SErian ..at RM5 per pokok ...so, next step is cari benih and tanam ...bertambah lah spesis buah2an kat kebun bapak aku ....
