red, red flowers

I love flowers ..memang minah bunga lah ..especially here, where flowers are plentiful ..and always banyak tak kira musim ...I have this habit of having fresh flowers in my room ..tak lengkap kalau takde flowers rasa nya ...and it was great bila kat sini, flowers are plentiful ...pastu plak rumah aku ada garden ..and lots of flowers ...garden kitorang ni di maintain oleh uni jugak ..and every season dorang akan tukar tukar bunga ...best kan? all i do is gi kat garden and pick them! or beli ajer - quiet cheap jugak ......

while browsing my photo folder, I noticed that my of the flowers that adorned my office, or room are red hahaha ...so vibrant ...check it out:

my officemate planted this one and it was his favourite ..tapi once in a while, aku masuk opis jer nampak bunga2 nie menghiasi meja aku ...meneriakan hari hari yang sibuk gitu

meanwhile at home:

yang nie plan alstromeria merah .. one of my fav flowers ...tahan lama plak tu and they come in a variety of colours ..aku either beli white or red ...love the shade! ingat esok nak carik yang putih lah ....lama tak ada alstomeria putih kat my room

and, a few month back, I got a lovely bunch of red roses ..delivered to the office of all thing hahaha ...sebab I spent more waking hours di opis than di rumah, decided to leave the flowers kat opis ajer ..and officemate siap sediakan vase ..and maintain the roses for me ...aku hanya enjoying the view ajer ...

and Ped dah help me to make these roses into dried roses ..I came in one day and saw that he had already gantung the wilting roses ...in fact masih tergantung kat window aku la nie ...aku ingat nak buat rose petals as my potpouri at home ...tapi tak terbuat lagi!

selain roses, we always have camelia in the office masa winter ..a lovely flower indeed ...either aku petik from my garden or dia bawak from his garden ...ada bunga kat opis menceriakan suasana ...makes me feel like homey sket hahaha padahal hanya perasaan semata mata kot

and another favourite aku is this one here ..tak tau nama nya ...but it is also a native NZ flower ...

ok ..enough of being minah bunga ..time to watch another dvd hahaha ....alang alang dah cuti kan, masa nie lah nak catch up with dvds and book!

Tulip Sunday at Wellington Botanic Garden

alooooooo ...

sibuk sangat selama nie sampai abang ngah komplen blog tak ber-update :-) activity banyak sangat cuma masa jer takde untuk menulis ....kang boh gambar ajer, ada yang abang ngah komplen kang ....anyway, today I am staying in ..malas nak kuar sebab esok ada plan nak hiking - a 6km hike esok..so today rehat kan kaki ....plus i need to do some work today as I have some tasks need to be completed by 18th nie ...

anyway, a few sunday back was Tulip Sunday - a festival to celebrate and welcome springtime ...it was 21st sept (same day as birthday my anak buah yang ansem) ..and apparenty this year punya festival marks the 70th year dah dibuat here ...so, it was  special occassion sebab dorang buat together ngan dutch festival ...sebab the very first festival dulu pun kerjasama with the dutch ..with tulip bulbs didermakan oleh dutch government ....

as usual, akak terpesona with all the tulips ...really really an awesome display ..tapi sebab gi masa festival kan ....a Welly City event, org ramai le ...berlaga vontot jugak le nak posing ngan tulips ...but, akak  kan very determined hahaha ...cuma tak tolak orang jer hahaha ..tolak sopan santun gitu ..

I went with my friend Lynette ...dia nie dulu opis sebelah opis aku ..now dah kerja ..so memang kalau tak weekend tak jumpa lah ...that day memang kitorang both bored and bila tau ada tulip festival, laju jer buat plan to meet up..Botanic Garden is about 5 mins walk from my current flat ..so convenient for me! 

I went jugak last year ..but not during the tulip sunday ...gi sepintas lalu utk ambik gambar jer ..this time, we spent half a day there ..just to soak up the atmosphere ...and ada spesis baru ...called honeymoon ..the petal looks like lace!

the others are just as amazing I tell you .....i fall in love everytime hahaha ....

since it was concurrent with Dutch festival ..banyak le stalls selling dutch food ...love the stollen bread ..so yumm! aku lupa ambik gambar hahaha ..then there were people selling tulips and tulip bulbs ....everyone is in customes..children and adults alike!

Balik from the festival, we went through the garden ....lots of photos ..nanti upload kat posting lain ...i cant wait for summer when all the roses will bloom :-)

bunga bunga jalanan 2

aloooo ...biasalah ujung minggu baru update blog ...sebab sibuk (tak larat nak explain panjang lebar) ...percaya jer lah cakap aku kalau aku kata aku sibuk ..anyway, posting nie nak temeng gambar2 bunga ajer ....al-maklumkan sekarang musim bunga ..all of these are taken dalam perjalanan from my flat to my office ....less than 8 mins walk punya cerita ...

dalam banyak2 bunga kan ....bunga nie aku tak pernah tengok sebelum ni. Dont think i ever saw it kat UK pon ....cantik warna nya ...dari jauh boleh nampak  ..and then tengok le tanah tempat dia tumbuh tu ...cam tanah yang tak subur jer kan .....

and this  tiny white flowers berlambak2 a couple of weeks ago ...esp kat cerun depan rumah aku ...now now aku tengok dah takde ....agak nya it only comes out masa early spring ...

kalau satu cerun tu dipenuhi bunga nie, mmg nampak cantik ...it's like a carpet of green and white ..

and the most attractive flower is this tiny white bloom ...aku rasa cam sakura ...tapi tak dapat dipastikan coz orang yang aku tanya tak tau ...and aku plak tak tau sapa yang tau ...

I did a posting dulu ...pasal this flower ..but pokok2 tu kat jalan aku menuju ke town ...pokok2 tu semua dah tak berbunga ....daun jer menghijau ....sebab aku notis kan pokok nie togel gitu ..and then baru berbunga ....and it is such a beautiful scenery ....dah abis bunga baru daun daun baru dia akan muncul :-)

Bunga ros tak mekar lagi ...roses selalu mekar ujung spring and the whole of summer ...bunga2 nie semua akan layu by then ...macam tulip aritu kan, last week went I went to Karori, nampak le batas2 tulip tinggal dedaun ijau jer ....tunggu the gardener nak cabut and to replant with other flowers ...

last but not least, one of the common flower masa nie adalah daisies .....berlambak kat tepi tepi jalan depan rumah aku ....

aku suka spring coz of the flowers and the fact that it is warmer ...but i always have problem masa spring ...coz if hay fever ..a type of allergy to pollens .....mmg nak bersin and gatal idung ajer di buat nya ....and another thing yang dorang bagitau aku kat sini ...sesi angin ribut mmg sinonim ngan ribut ...WWW kata nya ...wet, windy welly ...last week angin kuat berturut ...sampai kuar weather warning and kat area Kelburn nie ...mmg exposed siket ....aritu angin was at 120km/hour ..today windy but mellow ...hahaha kat sini dorang tak kisah ribut tu ...for them life goes on...so aku pun kena biasakan diri lah :-)

spring is here: Tulips!!!

yeayyyyyyy ....akhirnya jumpa selautan tulip hahaha ayat dramatik giler ....bukan apa, since coming here last summer, aku kan tak sabar2 nak tegok musim bunga ...coz it reminds me of my time lepak2 parks and gardens di Newcastle dulu ...how i would spent my weekends reading or chilling out at the various parks that dotted the city then ...so, bila dah spring kat sini, ati teruja kan main ...hahaha 3 weeks ago gi Botanic Garden tapi masa tu tulips belum kembang ...cuma 2 batas jer yang kembang ...but since next sunday is Welly spring festival and tulip Sunday, we know for sure memang tulips dah muncul ngan banyak nya ....sodari last week dah plan nak camwhoring with the tulips ...tapi weather was really awful ..rain ..rain and more rain ..so we cancel ...instead gi brekkie jer ...somehow brekkie tu panjang and lama hahaha sebab dok sembang kannnnnn ...and by the time we ronda2 tanpa arah tujuan, the rain seems to stop ...cecepat gi Botanic Garden ...and bergambar ngan bunga2 tulip yang mekar melawa tu ....

lovely lovely colours ....cuma tak sampai ati pijak batas to get closer shot of the tulips ...padahal masa tu just kami bertiga ajer yang ada ...dah nak balik tu baru ada org lain datang ....

of all the colours, this is my absolute favourite ....tapi kami tak sempat lama2 kat situ...coz it started to rain again ....pas soh this other person yang ada kat situ at the time to amik gambar kami bertiga ...we left ..secepat mungkin to the car sebab tak nak basah ...and heading to next destiation:Queensgate Mall for a bit of retail therapy and tengok wayang

not sure if i would be going there again next week for the spring festival ...kena tengok whether the weather will be ok or not ...kalau ujan cam semalam memang aku tak akan pergi lah ....lagipun the tulips will be here ill oct kot ...before they do all the replanting for other flowers ;-)

hiasan taman - landscaping ideas

aku tengah boring nie ...panas bontot sebab semalam jiwa tak tenteram ..so nak kerja pun mood ala kadar jer ...nie baru pas plan ngan Chris and Bemen nak lunch out of campus ...aku soh chris drive coz aku malas drive in the rain .....

anyaway, since malas nak start on my paper writing (idea belum ada sepenuhnya) maka aku godek2 lah camera ..and saw banyak photos aku ambik masa kat cottage ari tu ...bunga2 yang kami tanam dah start membersar dan, of course, berbungga ....so takde lah nampak kosong dan gersang ajer rumah tu ...hahahaha

and, FYI, aku tanam most of these pokok myself ok ...takde upah2 orang ...aku cuma upah orang buatkan batas ikut specification aku ajer (as usual):

Tip #1: sesuaikan saiz batasan dengan skala rumah ..kalau rumah kecik, jangan buat batas yang gedabak ..tak sesuai ...

Tip #2: meriahkan batas bunga tepi rumah ...guna warna dan jenis tumbuhan yang berlainan ..so that there will be a splash of colour. Kat sini, I use pink and white ..with lidah jin menyelit kat tengah2 and some thorny plant with tiny red flowers

pokok yang dipilih adalah yang jenis srub ajer ..coz tak nak block the view from the bay window

cantik bunga putih nie ..and yang penting senang tumbuh and tak perlu penjagaan rapi ...available in 3 colours (that I know of): putih, purple and pink

Tip #3: pilih bunga2 yang tak memerlukan penjagaan rapi sekiranya anda seorang yang pemalas macam saya ...pokok2 nie hardy, senang tumbuh dan membiak ..plus, cantekkkk

Tip #4: tanam pokok berduri dekat tingkap ...my reason is that supaya biler pokok nie dah mekar segar, duri banyak etc, boleh deter orang from menjenguk kiter from tingkap ...or from mengintai rumah kiter masa kiter takde kat situ ...as a deterrant ajer ...and org dulu2 plak kata kalau tanam pokok2 yang berduri di keliling rumah boleh elak hantu .....

yang nie kat bahagian tepi rumah yang menghadap padang ...belum di landscape betul2 ...cuma letak pokok duri tepi tingkap as deterrant ajer

nie pokok menjalar yang senang tumbuh jugak ...ada macam2 warna ....I use it as ground cover

my pokok Kalanchoe merah baru nak mekar segar ...warna kuning dah mati ...nak kena gi garden centre lagi nampaknya ....

Tip #5: pilih bunga-bunga yang pelbagai dan senang diganti ..

Tip #6: kalau tanah luas buat satu kawasan untuk semaian ...so that sentiasa ada stok bunga to replace yang mati ....

my cousin tolong aku buatkan rumah semain ini, yang lama dah runtuh masa ribut kuat aritu ...and as usual, my mum pi letak orkid fia kat situ ...menjadi parasit menumpang rumah semaian aku .....

jom, kiter sama2 berkebun bunga ...supaya dalam ati ada taman :-)
