Hiking in Abel Tasman - Day 2: Pitts Head and Te Pukatea Bay

Sambungan my mini holiday aritu ...terpaksa mencelah di posting raya abang ngah dulu  ....

that was the view when we arrived at Anchorage Bay on the first day of hiking ...by then memang aku sangat letih but sangat teruja sebab finally sampai destinasi for the night! We booked a night stay kat hut di situ ...mahal sebab it is under Department of Conservation ...and it is very basic ..no heating or hot water ...nanti aku buat separate posting on the accommodation. But at least we have a proper house ..and bukan camping ...sebab it was freezing kan ...again, sapa tah plan gi hiking in the middle of winter!!!

The very next day, Berna and I woke up late..org lain semua dah bangun seawal yang boleh ...and org yang sebilik ngan kitorang even woke up at 6.30am and then by 7am dia dah start his journey ...crazy hahaha ...kitorang lepak2 ...breakfast semua ..then repack our bag ....and leave to explore one of the side track ...the original plan was to track from Anchorage Bay to Barks Bay ..and lalu Torrent Bay ...but bila check the tide schedule, cam tak sempat nak sampai Barks Bay by 3.00pm ...and kalau ikut high tide track plak, thats an additional 2km ..and both of us were not that keen to use high tide track ..so decide to take the less strenuous track ..ambik side track i.e. Anchorage to Te Pukatea Bay malalui Pitts Head and balik ke Anchorage Bay to catch a water taxi back to Marahau ..we already booked a shuttle from Marahau to Nelson at 4.00pm ..so change of plan to suit that ....

Ternyata our change of plan tak sia sia ..sebab the hike also melalui kawasan yang view nya amat outstanding ...seriously, every where we looked..memang sangat cantik ....lots of stops along the way to enjoy and appreciate the view ...gambar tak dpt capture sepenuhnya the magnificent sceneries ...memang betul le apa orang kata..places in South Island have these magical qualities ...like having a slice of paradise saujana mata memandang

air laut sangat sangat jernih ...OMG I cannot believe how jernih it is ..that's Tasman Sea by the way ..tapi takyah le berangan angan nak mandi laut at this time of the year ..it was soooooo cold! i only dipped my fingers into the water ..and my God, that was enough ..terasa numb jari jemari ku yang montok banyak lemak ni ....kalau org kurus lagi le terasa gamaknya!

from that fabulous lookout, kitorang can see a colony of fur seals playing in the water ...and it is one of the things that I can now crossed off my bucket list ...Abel Tasman nie memang popular as animal sanctuary ...ada special package just to go seal watching ..and if nasib baik, you can see dolpins and whales and penguins katanya ....i saw two dolphins ..but bkn kat sini ...saw it when i was on the ferry from Welly to Picton ..awesome sangat rasanya ...another thing I can cross of the bucket list!

Halfway to Te Pukatea Bay tu kena lalu forest area ...full of the famous NZ fern and other native trees...

kat malaysia paku pakis cam kecik ajer kan ...kat sini menang giant giant belaka ....Berna sangat sangat excited tengok all these greens ..for me so so ajer .....macam kat kebun kat kampung aku kannnn except for part fern tu lah ...then out of the blue, Te Pukatea Bay terbentang luas di depan mata ........

weather a bit gloomy when we arrived here ..and we were actually quite disappointed sebab the bay is a bit "crowded" ...ada 3 kayaks di situ ...the six kayakers were resting and exploring the bay ...sad sebab usually we got the beach to ourselves ..hahaha over kan! the my friend told us (masa dah balik welly) that kalay masa summer ...memang penuh bay nie ngan orang hahaha the beauty of hiking in winter is that memang takde orang lah ....so, six other people pun feel like it was an intrusion ...

we spent two hours here ..relaxing ...having lunch ...reflecting on life in general ...and just enjoy the solitude ...the kayakers left after an hour or so ...pastu tinggal us and the seagulls ...heavenly ...

we went back to Anchorage Bay from here ...just over 1.5km ajer ..and we reached the Bay by 3.00pm and waited for our water taxi ...that's another story untuk next time ...panjang cerita hahaha sebab nak kena tinggal water taxi :-)
