Engagement..........

So i went to my cousin's engagement last weekend. As this cousin is my aunt's first daughter and this kenduri is the first of its kind for my aunt....i think it was not as small as what my aunt kept saying it's supposed to be. From the preparation, the "hantaran", the food and the costume...it was more like a kenduri nikah for me...splendid!..I dont really agree having to be engaged for certain period before the big day...i see a huge risk lies in between the 2 period...basically by being engaged, you are making the relationship official but at the same time, you are not yet bound to each other....pretty complex...what if ....something happen....then even the break up has to be official....we got to return the ring, there is also a penalty if i am not wrong....certain sum need to be paid .....but responses i've been hearing is that this is our tradition. Still not agreeing to it but no objection , i just love the family gathering part......

Hantaran is always something special for this kind of ceremony.....
