2nd Day in Bangkok - Grand Palace and the Temple of Emerald Buddha

Bangun pagi2, terus siap2 ...makan breakfast kat bilik ajer ...bersiap sepantas kilat masing2...2nd day tu plan nyer ke Grand Palace in the morning, then sambung shopping in the afternoon ...i decided that i wanted to see this place lepas baca blog @xim ...his photos were so great that i memang tertarik nak ke sini ...aku kan berbackgroundkan planning and architecture, so mmg teringin nak tengok seni bina Siam ...

we got a taxi from the hotel ...again it was about RM6 jer ...nie masa kat simpang to the Grand Palace ...tak tau bangunan apa ...but it was a great design ....pastu nampak bendera plak berkibar ...great photo opportunity :-)

masuk2 jer area nie, i dah terpegun ... the view was magnificient ....tapi org punya lah ramai ..to quote fendi - macam ulat taik - susah nak ambik gambar ...siap berlaga bontot pun ada! padahal masa tu baru 10 pagi ....awatlah ramai sangat orang yang nak kuar awal on a saturday ...kan?

entrance fee is 350 baht ...which is RM35 ...i personally think it was worth the money ...but kalau yang tak suka berpanas, tak suka tengok bangunan, tak suka temple cam nie - tak yah lah masuk ....banyak tempat lain kat Bangkok yang boleh di explore (kepada adik beradik 30-something - aku tuju kan nasihat nie pada LizDuan hehehehe)...

masa masuk tu, diorang jual bunga lotus and joss stick to those yang nak sembahyang di situ ...this place is considered as one of the most sacred for the Buddists ...and, kalau tak silap, it has been in existence for over 200 years ...significance bunga lotus is because yang disembah is Buddha ...the emerald Buddha ...

Tempat nie very bling bling ...warna gold and glittery stuffs merata-merata ...silau akak! That huge golden stupa (Phra Siratana Chedi) tu macam memanggil2 dari jauh ....

and these are known as the Giant Guardians ...ada di setiap penjuru temple ini ....

and it also housed a replica model of Angkor Wat temple ...according to legend, Raja Siam masa tu was so impressed with the Angkor Wat punya architecture that he asked someone to buat replica ..and place it here ...ini kan istana dia kan ...and masa Raja/ Pemerintah Cambodia nak restorekan Angkor Wat dulu, they send someone here to see its original design ..sebab masa tu Angkor Wat ada mengalami kerosakan ...(p/s my next destination will be Siem Reap to see the real Angko Wat) ...this replica is located on the Upper Terrace, dekat2 ngan that golden stupa tadi ....

on the way out, we saw this really Grand Palace ...tak leh masuk pun,...siap ada guard jaga kat situ ..coz this is istana raja maaa...the garden in front of this palace was very beautiful ..akak suka!

we spent nearly 2 hours here (kot) ...it was hot ...very very hot ....tapi pengalaman yang best sangat! from here, we went straight to Central World ....for more shopping ...nanti aku update kisah kat sana plak!
