Berbuka with some orphans

Semalam Grace organised berbuka puasa bersama anak anak yatim di Permata Camar Orphanage. At 30 sth...this is my first time being in such a place . Kebetulan kan ...actually few weeks back, we-"the gang" had discussion about charity work - how we should start to contribute something good to the community ...and that discussion to certain extend made me decide to join this function. As mentioned in the earlier posting , Duan tak ade so there were just me and the boys....

As i said , i have never joined such a function before, so acara berbuka ini benar benar membuka mata dan hati .

While helping serving the food to the kids...i heard a boy told his friend, "eeh kau tinggalkan lah sikit daging tu untuk aku"......sangat meruntun jiwa....i really cant explain the feeling in words...

Overall i think the commitee that organised this good cause function has done a good job, but i cant help but to notice the area that we can do better next time. One is the programme or the itinerary - we were supposed to have dinner then solat jemaah, but i guess it has been a routine for the boys (the orphanage is for boys only) to break their fast with some kuih and pray before having dinner. Perhaps the commitee was not made aware of this, thus our employees had dinner before the boys, and when the kids finished their prayer - they had the left over buffet. Well i know, there is no such thing as leftover for buffet - however in this case, we are better off than they are ..and we are supposed to "merai" kan mereka...???

That is how the heart breaking conversation about the daging came about.....i am not sure if the caterer refilled the food cause i did not see them doing that...hopefully they did!
